Scott Joplin's "Wall Street Rag" was published in 1909. According to John Roache's Ragtime MIDI Library, the four strains of 'Wall Street' have descriptive headings which accurately convey the moods of the music. They are:
Strain 1 - "Panic in Wall Street, Brokers feeling melancholy".
Strain 2 - "Good times coming"
Strain 3 - "Good times have come"
Strain 4 - "Listening to the strains of genuine negro ragtime, brokers forget their cares."
I thought it might be appropriate for today.

And, a Happy New Year to you too, cube! Ya, I like Scott Joplin. Thought I'd share.
Great background info on this song and, I agree, that it is very appropriate for our times. Like many other blasts from the past, people may rediscover Scott J! www.satisfiedsole.com
Glad you enjoyed it, Pam! Hey, you're becoming a regular around here. Thanks!

Hello back at ya, neighbor of the North! Glad you stopped by. I've often seen your comments on the Pen and Spindle blog.
