I like quotations. I particularly like quotations about Chicago, so today I'm beginning a new Friday Feature called "On Chicago." To be honest, I'm not thrilled with that title, but until I can come up with a better one, well, there it is.
Today's quote is from Floyd Dell (1887-1969), author, poet, newspaperman and editor of The Friday Review, a supplement to the Chicago Evening Post, and The Masses. I think it is an appropriate place to start since I so completely agree with him...
One reason for knowing the history of Chicago is that the history of Chicago is the history of the Middle West. And the history of the Middle West, is, to a larger extent than the school textbooks have ever permitted us to discover, the history of the nation.
